Acorn Food Workshop

October 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$80.00

With TreeGirl. An Oak Workshop where you learn about how to ID oaks, their natural and culinary history, and how to make yummy acorn treats!

Are you an Oak Lover, a “Querciphile”? Have you ever eaten ‘Acorn’ (and enjoyed it)? Did you know that acorns were a staple food for thousands of years all over the northern hemisphere where Oak trees grow, and likely your ancestors ate them?

In this hands-on workshop, TreeGirl will lead you in a tree-rific experience in:

  • How to identify the different Oak Trees (Quercus sp.) of California
  • A brief Natural History of Oak Trees
  • A brief culinary history of Acorn
  • How to properly gather and process Acorns for cooking
  • Modern Acorn cooking techniques
  • Eating yummy Acorn treats

Everyone will take home a jar of acorns and recipes to continue your acorn cooking adventure. Wear layers and sturdy shoes and bring water.
Please drive slowly down Azalea Land to respect our neighbors. Thank you.

Class will be outdoors; in case of rain, class will be rescheduled Sun/Oct 29
