Edible Bay Nut Workshop

With Tree Girl. A Workshop on our native bay trees, during which you will learn how to ID them, their natural and ethnobotanical history, and how to harvest, prepare, and roast their yummy nuts!

Do you love the smell of the California Bay Laurel Tree (Umbellularia californica)?
Have you ever eaten roasted Bay Nuts?
In this hands-on workshop, TreeGirl will lead you in a tree-rific experience in:

• How to identify the Bay Laurel tree (and why its not the same as the culinary Bay Leaf).
• The Natural History and Ethnobotany of the Bay Laurel Tree
• How and when to gather, prepare and roast Bay Nuts
• Eating yummy Bay Nuts!

Class will be outdoors; in case of rain, class will be rescheduled for Sun/Nov.12
Wear layers and sturdy shoes. Bring water and an appetite for learning about wild food.
